About GABA

Ganja Agribusiness Association (GABA) was established in 1996 by a group of leading scientists of the Azerbaijan Agriculture Academy . Since its establishment, GABA has implemented nearly 40 projects across the fields of environment protection, agribusiness extension, IDP (Internally Displaced Persons) support, rural development, civil society development, organic agriculture education and development as well as financial assessment of the agricultural sector. GABA's agricultural extension staff is dedicated to developing business plans for entrepreneurs as well as established farmers and producers and is experienced in developing questionnaires for regional agricultural and financial assessment. In addition, GABA has conducted various market research programs, is a national leader in organic agriculture production and farming practices and currently publishes its own magazine entitled Organic Agriculture , which has a Country-wide distribution. GABA employs 41 people, the majority of which are specialists with university degrees in agriculture. By the support of GABA Ecological Monitoring of Soil and Environment Laboratory was established June 12, 2004. The Laboratory provides member farmers with the relevant services. Food provision degree is checked in the farms. In the West and Northwest regions of Azerbaijan GABA carries out research that serves to increase protection and soil fertility.

GABA operates in ecologically sound areas of North-western and western regions of Azerbaijan. These regions cover 15 districts and Ganja city.

GABA has more than 1123 member and during short period of time 879 member farmers became agriculture products producers. First in Azerbaijan GABA organized a consulting-information service and its network is operating on three levels: regional, district and rural. On web-site www.gaba.az the database of marketing information on agricultural products is created. Up to now many advanced technologies (e.g. raised-bed wheat planting, drip irrigation etc.) were applied by GABA
